TexMed 2023 Presents Can’t-Miss CME – With New and Improved Schedule
By Hannah Wisterman

Physicians at this year’s TexMed will have a rich selection of CME to attend, aided by improved scheduling.

And members won’t want to miss this year’s CME. With a number of hot topics on the floor, including some lively panel discussions, physicians have a unique opportunity to stay up to date on a changing medical landscape. In addition to pressing health trends, members can learn about issues such as their own wellness, practice management tips and tricks, applications for technology, care delivery, and more.

This year’s CME schedule is carefully curated to best serve physicians, with each program aligning with one of four tracks, in addition to tracks offered by specialties:

  • Leadership and Professional Development,
  • Physician Health and Wellness,
  • Population Health and Public Health, and
  • Business of Medicine, which includes practice and career management along with quality improvement.

While CME has been organized into tracks in the past, the focused number of tracks this year makes it easier for physicians to choose the education that serves them best.

Plus, after prior years’ scheduling kept members from fully engaging with CME and other events, TMA staff has scheduled CME so as not to conflict with member commitments to business meetings.

Space for attendees is filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so keep an eye out for the official lineup to plan your weekend ahead of time. Some prescient talks have already been announced:

  • Advocating for Physician Wellness: It's Everyone's Job,
  • Mastering the Art of Physician Leadership: Strategies for Leading High-Performing Clinical Teams in Medicine, and
  • Hospitals, Private Equity Firms, and Insurers, Oh My! The Decline of Physician-Owned Practices.

Many courses will be recorded with the potential for release on the TMA Practice Well podcast

As an added bonus, many programs this year are approved by the Texas Medical Liability Trust (TMLT). Completing enough TMLT-approved courses will contribute to a policy discount.

Also counting toward CME are TexMed’s opening and closing sessions, with Ted James, MD, and Brad Nieder, MD, respectively. Both speakers have worked closely with TMA staff to ensure their talks are tailored to the experiences of member physicians. Dr. James will speak on “Navigating the Future of Medicine,” while Dr. Nieder, aka the Healthy Humorist, will engage attendees on stress management in the modern medical profession.

The wealth of CME options at TexMed is a longstanding benefit of TMA membership. The hours of education help your membership pay for itself – so don’t miss the chance to take advantage of this year’s programming.

As always, visit TMA’s Education Center any time for a menu of available CME.
