Quick Tips to Make a Difference in 2024

Plan your charitable giving using TMA Foundation’s NEW and improved website, which is chock-full of tax-wise tips to help make the most of your vision of a healthier Texas.

Here are some of the easiest ways to plan your giving for this year or into the future and change lives with better health:

  • Become a PULSE donor by scheduling a recurring gift. You decide the amount and frequency. You’ll be the heartbeat of TMA Foundation, empowering physicians and alliance members to improve the health of their communities through TMAF-funded programs;
  • Donate directly to TMAF with a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) of IRA assets starting at age 70-1/2, and you may avoid being pushed into a higher income tax bracket and prevent phaseouts of other tax deductions;
  • Plan your giving on the TMA Foundation website with NEW tools such as the Gift Illustrator to find the charitable gift that is right for you, the Planning Library to explore planned giving options to leave a legacy or direct your financial advisor to Resources for Professional Advisors section;
  • Consider completing a simple change of beneficiary form to add TMA Foundation as the recipient of all or a portion of your IRA, 401(k) or insurance plan;
  • Use language from the plan your giving section of the TMAF website to include a charitable bequest in your will or living trust to direct a specific item, amount of money, gift contingent upon certain events or percentage of your estate to TMA Foundation.

Please consult a tax advisor for requirements of these and other gift-giving strategies and advice that suit your personal circumstances and financial goals. Contact TMAF Executive Director Lisa Stark Walsh with questions at Lisa.Walsh@texmed.org.
